Geneva is getting ready to welcome dancers from around the world for one of the most international bachata events of the year: Bachata Geneva Festival – The Festival of Nations.
From 8 to 12 October 2026, Palexpo will become a meeting point for bachata lovers, professional dancers, DJs and visitors from more than 70 countries, bringing music, dance and different cultures together in the heart of the Geneva region.
A festival where the world meets through dance
Bachata has its roots in the Dominican Republic and has become a worldwide social dance. Its cultural importance has also been recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The idea behind The Festival of Nations is simple: bring people from different countries together around the same passion.
During the festival, Geneva will welcome an international community of dancers for several days filled with workshops, social dancing, music and performances.
According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will bring together participants representing more than 80 nations, making this a truly international event.
What can you experience at the festival?
Whether you are an experienced dancer or simply curious about bachata, the programme offers several ways to enjoy the event.
💃 International dance workshops
Learn from international artists and improve your technique, musicality and connection on the dance floor. The workshops are designed for dancers who want to develop their skills while meeting people from different parts of the world.
🎶 Day and night social dancing
The festival goes beyond classes. Social events with international DJs create opportunities to dance, meet other participants and experience the social side of bachata.
For many visitors, this is one of the most exciting parts of the festival: stepping onto the dance floor and discovering how a shared passion can connect people who have travelled from completely different countries.
🏆 Bachata Social World Cup Finals
One of the highlights of the 2026 edition will be the Bachata Social World Cup Finals, taking place on 10 and 11 October.
Around 180 finalists will compete across several rounds, bringing dancers who qualified through competitions around the world to Geneva.
Even if you are not participating, watching the competition offers a chance to see some of the world's leading social dancers perform live.
Why Geneva?
The choice of Geneva as the host city makes the festival particularly convenient for international visitors.
Palexpo Congress Center, located in Le Grand-Saconnex, is close to Geneva Airport and well connected to the city. The venue is also only a short distance from the centre of Geneva and Lake Geneva.
This means visitors can combine the festival with a city break: spend the day discovering Geneva, enjoy the lake and local neighbourhoods, and return to Palexpo for an evening of music and dancing.
Make the most of your stay in Geneva
If you are travelling to Geneva for the Bachata Geneva Festival, why not turn your visit into a few days of discovery?
Between dance sessions, you can explore some of the city's highlights, walk along the shores of Lake Geneva, visit the Old Town, discover local cafés and restaurants, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of one of Switzerland's most international cities.
And after a long day of dancing, having a comfortable place to relax can make all the difference.
Geneva Residences offers furnished apartments in Geneva and the surrounding area, providing a home-like alternative for visitors who want more space and independence during their stay.
A celebration of dance, culture and connection
The Bachata Geneva Festival is more than a dance event. With participants travelling from dozens of countries, it is an opportunity to experience different cultures while sharing music, movement and a love for bachata.
From 8 to 12 October 2026, Geneva will become a place where nationalities meet on the same dance floor.
